Selling part of your business is an attractive option for some
Most of our clients want to sell all of their business. Usually because they are retiring or want to concentrate on other business interests. However, we are also happy to act for individuals who are looking to release some equity by selling part of their company. They retain an interest and stay on to run it.
In other cases, for example a family business, the father may wish to retire and sell his shares leaving one or more children to run the company while retaining their shares.
At the present time there is a large amount of private equity finance looking to invest in small and medium sized companies. The returns are better than interest bearing accounts and many investors are wary of the volatility of the stock markets.
Investors will want a seat on the Board but often will wish to have no part in the day to day running of the company.
This may not be the route for everyone but for some it is the equivalent of having your cake and eating it!
